This two day course is designed to give both the certificated and classified school employee a comprehensive overview for dealing with critical issues in campus safety.

Your Personal and Campus Emergency Preparedness Plan, Your School’s Emergency Person, Coping with the Lack of Normal Emergency Services, The Concept of Liability and Lawsuits, NIMS, The Creation of a Logistics Resource Book for Your School or District, Designing Your ‘People’ Response, Managing Volunteers, Team Building with Outside Agencies, The School Crisis Management Team and Their Training, Emergency Equipment Issues, School Rally Points, School Relocation, Reunification Areas, Sectoring, Preplanning a Critical Incident Response, Evacuation v. Emergency Evacuation v. Rescue, Sheltering Concepts, The Risk Versus Benefit Analysis, Emergency Warning and Notification Systems, Priority Restoration of Services, Crisis Media Relations, Role of the Fire and Police Departments, the Four-Part Critical Incident Response Plan to include the Incident Command System, Unified Command Organization, and the Critical Incident Checklist. Specific Hazard Response: Flood, Earthquake, Gunman, Fire and Hazmat.
Students will participate in practical exercises to apply the skills learned.
